People have been involved in the age of information by the wave of informatization based with communication and network technology. The arrival of the information age and future learning society makes information literacy skills become one of the basic qualities. Information literacy will directly affect people’s learn and work efficiency, and improvement of people’s quality of life. Therefore, IT education have been attracted more and more attention and concern by the educational researchers around the world. Middle school IT courses and IT extra-curricular are important parts of IT education, which is the main measure to improve the teachers and students information literacy, and the foundation to achieve IT education.In the new round of basic education curriculum reform, that a comprehensive IT training and upgrading of secondary school students information literacy are the basic goal of middle school IT curriculum. Not only do we need to optimize the first classroom to improve teaching efficiency, but also to carry out IT extra-curricular practice.Through surveys, interviews and field observations, we have studied IT status quo of the extra-curricular practice of four middle school of the Bao’an District of Shenzhen City, to find out problems, carry out analysis and discussion on the basis, put forward the feasible countermeasure and the suggestion, which is to contribute to the development of the middle school IT extra-curricular practice and obtain more valid practice effect.Based with questionnaire investigation in this study, we conducted questionnaire survey to four middle schools’ students of the Bao’an District of Shenzhen City, who took the IT extra-curricular. The content includes:(1) IT extra-curricular practice content survey; (2) surey of practices of IT extra-curricular; (3) environment of IT extra-curricular; (4) survey of learning style of IT extra-curricular practice; (5) survey of Interest tendency of IT extra-curricular practice; (6) survey of assessment and learning effect of IT extra-curricular practice. At the end of the survey, we have interviews with the survey school classroom teachers and students, respectively, which is to supplement the cases unreflected in the questionnaire. Also we have continuous observation on classroom practice activities for a whole semester.This article is divided into five parts.The first part is an introduction, the research background, purpose, meaning, content and methods are discussed, and the research status of domestic and foreign IT education and IT extra-curricular practice are briefly introduced.The second part is the relevant concept definition and theoretical basis, the extra-curricular is defined, the theory of constructivist, multiple intelligences and learning motivation are discussed.The third part is the survey results and analysis of the extra-curricular IT practices of Shenzhen Bao’an Middle School. We discuss from the survey purpose, objective, tools and result analysis, etc. Item by item, the results of the survey are analyzed and reflected by the information technology to all aspects of the extra-curricular practice.The fourth part is teaching suggestions and enlightenment. In view of the the survey and study of the problem of the third part, from the practice of the extra-curricular content, teaching mode, management mechanism, the relationship with the first class, we put forward suggestions for the middle school IT extra-curricular.The fifth part is conclusion, research is summarized, and the deficiency of this study and the research direction in the future are proposed.
