With the development of society, our nation implements three-grade courses in terms of nation, local and school. The establishment of courses of local and school offers teachers who work in the front line more spaces of development and self-promotion. Standards for Compulsory Education Fine Arts Courses(2011 version) points out explicitly the problem of utilization of local art course resources, encourages art teaching and research institutions, researches and teachers in various places to work hard for doing well in the work of exploitation and investigate, understand, classify and sort and fully use local art resources and positively compile school-based courses and textbooks in implementation proposals. Confronted with requirements and proposals of the new curriculum standard, an art teacher working in the front line has duties and conditions to positively respond to government orders, constantly improve professional knowledge and positively exploit local art course resources under the guidance of teaching theories and course development theories.Qingzhou, Shandong is a famous historic and cultural city. It has deep human resources and the bright regional cultural characteristics and it has seven thousand-year history of civilization as one of the ancient Jiuzhou(a poetic name for China). In1996, Longxing Temple of Buddhist sculpture is unearthed, which makes Qingzhou attract attention from world. Long xing Temple unearths more than 400 statues, which are chiseled beautifully and cross time for 500 years and they are awarded as “one of ten archaeological discoveries in 1996 and one of national one hundred major archaeological discoveries in the 19 th century” successively and they are praised as “Chinese best ancient engraving art”. [1] At the same time, in recent years, government of Qingzhou city has worked hard for building the “Tourism Setting up City” strategy focused on “Buddhism, life”, and worked hard for promoting the popularity and influence of tourism of the ancient city Qingzhou, which attract more domestic tourists to visit Qingzhou.Whereas, students of primary and secondary school in Qingzhou do not know well about Buddhist sculptures of artistic value and they just stay the level of “heard”. Surveys demonstrates that there are more than fifty students in a class but only five or six students visit the Buddhist sculptures of Qingzhou museum and students are not familiar with the status of Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures in the art history. And communications between teachers from different schools show that although Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures are unearthed more than 20 years, there is no school makes school-based courses exploitation and construction on Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures. In view of Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures’ important values in various aspects, vacancy of exploiting and using them and needs of students’ learning and teachers’ professional development etc., the author will make “Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures” as the local resources to exploit and deep research them and compile the school-based courses and introduce them to this school’s art class to promote the development of this school’s art courses. This thesis exploits and researches school-based art courses of “Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures” based on literature research method, action research method and interdisciplinary research method and assisted by the interview and questionnaire and draw support from the local cultural resources “Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures” and combined with the specific conditions of this school and the actual conditions of students under the guidance of Standards for Compulsory Education Fine Arts Courses and course development theories. On the basis of understanding domestic and foreign research status, the author design the course of Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures as the comprehensive course focused on appreciation and comment and divides contents of the school-based course into three parts from the shallower to the deeper: psychological comfort-walk up to Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures, exotic flower of Buddhist sculpture-intensive study on Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures(kind, style, historical development and decoration) and walk and take photos-experience Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures(students use the method of taking photos to experience the uniqueness of the Buddhist sculptures, feel the peculiarity of the Buddhist culture and thus understand the close relations between Buddhist sculptures and shadow, time, even time and tide, mood etc. deeper). These three parts compose a systematical entirety. Filter, sort and preserve knowledge related to Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures by designing and implementing the school-based courses and then understand related knowledge of history, politics and customs of ancient Qingzhou and cultivate humanistic spirit by understanding unique regional characteristics of Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures and its reasons.Aimed at the research of this topic, this thesis mainly divides into three parts to discuss. The first part discusses the reasons, significance, domestic and foreign related research status, researchful thinking and methods in terms of the research of the school-based courses of Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures. The second part states feasibility and exploiting principles for exploiting the school-based courses of Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures. The third part is the key point of the thesis. It mainly discusses exploitation and implementation of school-based courses of Qingzhou Buddhist sculptures, including setting of the school-based courses, specific implementation of teaching and problems occurred in the process of exploiting and implementing the school-based courses and reflection and so on. In the process of exploiting and implementing the school-based courses, teachers and students participate jointly, which makes students’ creativity and teachers’ professional level develop at the same pace.
