Picture books, as the most suitable books for children since the 21 st century, has been paid comprehensive attention in pre-school education. They are interesting, instructive, artistic and also rich of literariness. With the picture books skyrocket in popularity, children’s drama activity quickly catch on around the field of pre-school education. The prevalence of picture books and children’s drama activities greatly appeals both children and kindergarten teachers. For kindergarten teachers, there are less opportunities to combine theory with practice. However, the development and practice in kindergarten educational activities can fully satisfy this. It can help teachers make reflection on the method of teaching and learning. What is more, it makes teachers so deeply to think about the teaching method that improves their professional skills in education. Therefore, researching in this field is be of importance. The combination of picture books and drama activity, which provides children the most vivid and most intuitive feelings, has immeasurable significance of education. Firstly, summaries and conclusions are conducted about the researches of children’s drama activities and picture books in United States, Britain, Taiwan where both theory and practice of pre-school education are solid and rich. Then, based on the original theory of education, a unique program about kindergarten education and activity is designed, which can be referred by other teachers.By following the guidance of many basic theories, drama activities in kindergartens are designed based on picture books. Under the guideline of qualitative study, the deficiency of the scheme is pointed out by observing the records, analyzing the cases and interviewing the teachers. By constantly adjusting, various strategies on designing the educational activity based on picture books are explored. The main works in this research are as follows. Firstly, design principles of drama activities in kindergartens based on picture books are analyzed, including the life principle, the principle of subjectivity, dramatic principle and the integration principle. Secondly, the design strategies are provided, including the selection of picture books and the content and organizations of activities. Finally, the conclusion and reflection of this study is conducted by the research team.
