Middle school students are the creators and successors of modernization with Chinese Socialist characteristics, being the reserve forces of national modernization,they should not only grasp the latest technologies and sciences, but also propose the consciousness as a modern citizen. At preset, China is walking on the transitional period from a traditional society to a modern one, so to train young students with modern citizen consciousness become the primary task of improving citizenship and civility, which has strong practical significance in promoting China’s spiritual civilization and modernization. The school education, as the basic means to cultivate people, needs to take cultivating people as its priority, especially the sense of citizenship formed in secondary school, being essential to both the country and people.Therefore, this paper centers on researching school’s citizenship education in contemporary China, in the perspective of the ideological and moral education in junior middle schools. It analyzes contents and ways educating citizen’s consciousness of ideological and moral education in depth by combination of theory and practice. It is significant for strengthening and improving citizen’s consciousness education and that of students in middle schools. In this paper takes the research of citizenship education both at home and abroad as basis, bases on the investigation of current situation and problems of civil consciousness in junior high school students,and combines the content of citizenship education revealed in ideological and ethical education textbook published by the People’s Education Publishing Company. It discusses how to use effective classroom to foster citizen’s consciousness on the basis of reflecting its own teaching experience.This paper is divided into four parts: the first part is the introduction, a brief explanation of research background, significance, present research results and other basic problems of this article;the second part is to enhance the significance of civic awareness of middle school students,which is not only the objective requirement of socialist modernization development,but also the demand for all-around growth of those students;the third part has analyzed the content and cultivation of civic awareness that students should possess in Ideological and Ethical Education PEP edition;the fourth part is foothold of this article,which is to address the problem about current civic awareness education and put forward the methods that can reinforce the education about civic awareness in middle school in Ideological and EthicalEducation,the methods of Ideological and Ethical Education civic awareness education are:situational teaching,case teaching,investigative study,the combination of those methods can facilitate students’ better understanding of civic awareness and apply those knowledge to real life,which can beef up effectiveness of our civic awareness cultivation.
