An Investigation On The Current Situation Of Extracurricular Reading Of Senior High School Students

With the development of society and education, we are faced with the era of a rapid updated information, rapid development of science and technology, living in such an environment, people have to get a lot of information through continuous learning, and the main approaches of learning is to read, so reading ability has become one of the essential ability to modern.Reading is a long and lasting process, need to adhere to preserve. But now it cannot solve the existing reading problem completely by relying solely on diligence, the key of reading is that know how to read and master reading essentials. Especially for the reading problems of primary school students now, the lack of extracurricular reading, the negligence of reading in language teaching, resulting in a series of problem, such as insufficient amount of reading, improper reading method, lack of reading ability and so on, which also makes foster students extracurricular reading ability is particularly important.At the same time, countries have introduced a lot of policy to support. From primary school to high school, countries put forward the extracurricular reading requirement for different learning period, step by step, and according to the actual situation to revise curriculum standards of each learning period, in order to maximize the students’reading needs to adapt, to provide a more appropriate reading programs and reference.So the author teased out the meaning of extracurricular reading, found the existing problem, analyzed the reason and put forward specific and feasible strategies, in order to promote the progress of primary school students’extracurricular reading and to promote their full and harmonious development.This thesis contains five parts.The first part elaborates the selected topic reason, the domestic and foreign related research literature review, research purpose and significance, the innovations of the research and the difficulties, research ideas and methods.The second part outlines the primary extracurricular reading and educational significance, which teases out the concept of reading, reading teaching and extracurricular reading, also analyzes related policy, integrates the educational significance of extracurricular reading.The third part selects two primary schools in F City as the research object, and makes questionnaires and individual interviews from five aspects, it includes the extracurricular reading content, the amount of reading, reading motivation, reading methods, reading environment analyzes concretely the current situation of primary school students’extracurricular reading.The fourth part details existing problems and reasons in the extracurricular reading, found the problems include mainly that reading interest need to be improved, reading time failed to safeguard, has yet to develop reading habits, reading content is lack of specification, need to strengthen reading guidance. For extracurricular reading problems, analyzes the causes are that the school management’s formalization, teachers lack the correct reading concept, inadequate parental supervision and restraint, television and network’s impact and temptation, the restrictions of students’ reading self-consciousness missing.The fifth part puts forward optimized strategies after analyzing the various aspects, expect to change the status quo of extracurricular reading, according to the specific situation proposed three optimized strategies:(a) Schools should strengthen the management system of extracurricular reading guide;(b) Teachers should pay attention to the guidance of students reading method;(c) Parents and schools should strengthen coordination and oversight.Finally, the author has carried on the summary for the thesis, reflects on the deficiencies in the process of thesis writing, and expects each expert can give valuable opinions, so as to make the research more mature.
