Urban small-sized kindergartens refer to those covering relatively small areas and small usable areas for per student within the urban area coverage. The urban district is an area with highest concentration of population and most prosperous economic development. The everyday activities in the kindergarten basically include children’s life activity, game activity, study activity and outdoor activity. With the release of Guideline to Children’s Study and Development Ranging from 3 to 6 Years Old in October, 2012, in recent years, more and more emphasis has been put on kindergarten’s outdoor activities. Anji Pattern, focusing on children’s outdoor activity reform and innovation taking Anji, Zhejiang as an example, has once attracted attention of the whole field of preschool education. As an important constituent part in children’s outdoor activities, children’s sports activity is mentioned in the implementation guidance of Guideline, “children’s outdoor activity time everyday shall be generally at least 2 hours, of which the outdoor sports activity time shall be at least 1 hour.” Lots of small-sized kindergartens in the urban area are limited by their covering area. Therefore, in this thesis, the author mainly tries to investigate, discuss and solve problems including how to develop children’s outdoor activities, how to improve the sports activity quality of the urban kindergartens and what measures can be taken to improve the situation. As for these problems, based on referring to existing literature on outdoor sports activities at home and abroad by means of documentary method, with interviewing method, questionnaire method and field observation, the author carries out a field investigation on the current situation of outdoor sports activities in four small-sized kindergartens of B area in Kunming’s urban district. As to the four senior classes, a months’ follow-up observation in class is done. In this way, the author tries to know about the current situation of outdoor sports activities in Kunming’s urban kindergartens, finds out major problems, analyzes causes and puts forwards countermeasures to improve the quality of out sports activities in kindergartens. The thesis is mainly divided into four chapters:Chapter 1 is research overview. This chapter introduces the origin of the research problem; defines relevant concepts in the research; summarizes relevant researches on outdoor sports activities at home and abroad; expounds the research significance of children’s outdoor sports activities as well as the specific design of the research.Chapter 2 is the investigation of basic situation of outdoor sports activities in urban small-sized kindergartens. The investigation is divided into three parts. In part 1, it is the basic investigation of the current situation of four small-sized kindergartens selected in P area of Kunming; in part 2, the author goes deep into those four kindergartens all day long, doing follow-up observation and making summary on the number of children involved in outdoor sports activities, field situation, time and frequency, material types and input, organization form and content; in part 3, starting from the two most important subjects in outdoor sports activities—children and teachers, 60 children from the four senior classes in these four kindergartens are selected to do investigation and assessment on their physical ability and exercise development, and meanwhile, apply educational narration case analysis to further observe the teachers’ organization methods in the four senior classes of the four kindergartens, and finally analyze and sum up the sports level features and teachers’ organizational features in outdoor sports activities.Chapter 3 analyzes the problems and factors in current situation of outdoor sports activities of kindergartens. A conclusion is drawn that the limitations of geographical position lead to that fact that urban small-sized kindergartens’ outdoor activities are unable to mix with natural surroundings; different kindergarten levels also give rise to teachers’ different emphasis degree on outdoor sports activities, and the male teachers are relatively fewer; urban children’s parents high requirements for safety of outdoor sports activities limit the development of kindergarten’s sports activities; urban children’s lack of exercise leads to relatively weak development in body movement; teachers’ insufficient organization makes it hard to improve the outdoor sports activities.Chapter 4 puts forward some countermeasures and suggestions aimed at improving the quality of children’s outdoor sports activities.
