The geographical concept is the most important basic knowledge of middle school geography teaching, it is the key part to learn scientifically the geographical object,geographical phenomenon,geographical law and geographical principle, also is important training base to develop geographical thinking, improving geographic skills and strengthen geographic attainments. Thus, Research is significant about the geographical concept in geography textbooks expression.This thesis complies with the tend of new curriculum reform at home and abroad,respects the predecessors’ research achievements,based on the theories of behavioral learning theory, cognitive learning theory, Humanism learning theory and the new curriculum reform idea, analyzing the obstacles existing in middle school students’ geographical concept learning,including non-intelligence factors’ hindering,lacking perception information,the influence of pre-science conception and the effect of negative transfer.The research compares the statement of the geographical concept which on Grade 3 in Chinese Shandong and the British GCSE to that in the history and abort. Shandong textbook is state-certified and GCSE is an important reference books,so both of them possess great research value.Comparing with the two, the main differences about the expression of geographical concept mark the following:the geographic pattern,the design of geographic case,the using of the geographic concept map,the geographic examples,the style of geographic concept’ expression and form. The analytical problems existing in China shandong textbook contain lacking of the quality of the geographic pattern and the cases about geographic concept,the lower grade of geographic concept map and smaller amounts,the brief explanation of the geographic examples,the expression lacking interestingness, comprehensiveness and readability.After summarizing the problems existing in the statement of the geographical concept in textbooks of middle school published in the province of Shandong, I develop optimal strategies of the statement of the geographical concept including abiding the following principles:geography and scientificity,linking theory with practice,readability and teachability,in keeping with geography course’s goal;Riching geographical perceptual materials improves the shaping of geography image which conforms to cognitive rules;Building the concept map promotes the building of system which accelerates meaningful learning;Making the connotation and extension stand out avoid the confusion;Perfecting the expression of geographical concept reflect humanism feelings.In the end,give five cases and present hydrologic cycle in detail to show the optimized strategies.
