1 The Purposes Starting from the cognitive style and differentiation theory putting forward by ~itkin, on the basis of looking back at the demonstrative research relating cognitive style both at home and abroad in five aspects, including the sex, age, and culture difference of the cognitive style development and their mutuality between the cognitive style and the other personality factors, this dissertation centers around the following tow aspects as its purposes. 1. 1 This dissertation tries to explore the causal factors of the cognitive style development of the students such as the nationality (the Han and the Hani), the region(Kunming city and Honghe country), the sex(male and female) and the age(from 11 to 17, corresponding to elementary school in five grade, junior high school in first and third grade, senior high school in second grade)and their model of interaction. 1.2 It tries to explore the mutuality between the cognitive style and personality factors for the different region students, the different nationality students and the different age students. 2 The Methods 2. 1 Subjects The subjects of valid sampling totals up to 948, among which there are 331 subjects of Kunming抯 Han nationality, 313 subjects of Honghe抯 Han 1 nationality and 304 subjects of Honghe抯 Hani nationality. Kunining抯 Han nationality subjects are composed by the students from Kunming Wucheng elementary school, Kunming抯 Wuhua campus school and Kunming抯 twelfth high school. Honghe抯 Han and Hani nationality subjects are composed by the students from both the first elementary school, Haniregion elementary school, the first junior high school and Bayi junior high school of Jinping county and Daxin elementary school, the first junior high school of Luchun county. 2.2 The Means of Measuring 揟he Embedded Figures Test?is chosen as the tool of measuring the cognitive style. 揟he Students?Personality scale (aged from 11 to 18)?is chosen as the tool of measuring personality. Both tools are of higher reliability and validity. 2.3 Criteria of Statistics 2. 3. 1 As to Honghe抯 subjects, by taking the nationality, the sex and the age as independent variables and the primary scores of the cognitive style as dependent variables, the dissertation undertakes a 2 X 2 X 4 multi梫ariables analysis of variance. As to Kunming抯 subjects, by taking the sex and the age as independent variables and the primary scores of the cognitive style as dependent variables, the dissertation undertakes a 2 X4 multi梫ariables analysis of variance. It also undertakes the simple effect inspection with result of analysis of variance (ANOVA) by interaction factors, a LSD inspection by age factors and t inspection between Kunming and Honghe and between the Honghe抯 Han and the Hani nationality. 2. 3. 2 By taking the test primary scores of the 24 personalities and the test primary scores of the cognitive style separating the subjects in different region, different nationality and different age, the dissertation undertakes the Pearson抯 correlation. 2.3.3 By taking the three levels(field梔ependence level, middle level and field梚ndependence level)of the cognitive style and the test primary scores of the 24 personalities separating the subjects in different region, different nationality and different age, the dissert...
