Pedagogy as a common course is what the students in higher normal colleges should take. It aims to guide the students to understand education, raise their educational awareness, form their correct attitude and broaden their range of knowledge. In the meantime, this course can help to inspire the students?educational wisdom, and improve their educational ability and behavior. It offers the students the basis for recognition and ability in studying and teaching practice. However, many teachers have formed the habit of laying too much emphasis on its practical value, and teaching theoretical knowledge and skills most of the time. They ignore the fact that this course has the function of developing the personality and creativity of the students in normal colleges. In view of this, the dissertation adopts literature, investigation and comparison, etc. to explore the current situation of pedagogy teaching and thus search for reformation. Teaching strategies refer to the methods and procedures to fulfil teaching objective and meet the students?needs. They play an important part in achieving the teaching goal and increasing the teaching quality. There have been many researches on teaching strategies, but there is a lack of interest in the teaching strategies of this course. The dissertation applies the theories of educational, psychology and didactics to analyze the problems in higher normal colleges: Some teachers are conservative and low in self-quality and teaching level, and they have not a complete knowing about the teachers?duty; Many students lack the ability and motivation to deal with 2 the everyday learning; The teaching contents appear to be empty and too general; The teaching methods are dull and monotonous; The teaching management is not in perfect condition. From the point of view of the problem analysis, teachers should re- examine the teaching objective and characteristics of the course.. Meanwhile, based on the thoughts in philosophical methodologies, systematic theory and modem cognitive psychology, they should treat the problems as a whole, explore the measures to solve them, and establish the teaching strategies as follows: character experiencing strategy, directional exploration strategy, skill training strategy and independent study strategy. It is also of necessity to analyze the adaptive range, teaching procedure and demands in characteristics and operation of each strategy. The researches on teaching strategies of pedagogy as a common course have an important status in current teaching situation. This dissertation aims to offer help in solving the teaching problems, make more valuable suggestions and arouse greater interests in teaching strategies.
