Higher Education Examination for Self-Taught Learners(HEESTL) is a very important system of higher higher education in our courtry. It is developed based on the specific situations of China and the experiences of the open universities in other courtries. Since it is formed in 1981, it's developing very rapidly. But it is worried that if it will be developed as good as before hi the future. Now our courtry is developing toward a dipmola-oriented society. In this society, the diploma is greatly valued, so many people are seeking after it incredibly. This disstertation is mainly to discuss how diploma-oriented society is related to HEESTL. Finally some suggestions are made about how HEESTL will be developed healthly.
