The imperial examination system is a kind of examination which originated in the Sui Dynasty, established in the Tang Dynasty, matured in Song Dynasty, faded in Ming Dynasty, died out in Qing Dynasty. It through the Sui, Tang, song, yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties, stretches for one thousand three hundred years. The development of feudal society and stability play an important role. The imperial examination system in Tang Dynasty had a huge impact in mitigating social contradictions and the development of education, especially vocational education at that time. Social relief mechanisms to promote social development and meet the social benefit as the goal. By integrating all kinds of political economic and cultural resources to mitigate and control the social conflicts. Reasonable social benign operation of the system,contains the political, economic, cultural, legal, religious, moral adjustment to achieve the goal of social stability and development. Tang dynasty imperial examination, plays a positive guidance to the people thought and behavior. Can foster learning concept lead to more students who indulged in the imperial examinations, obsessed with the Confucian classics, but ignore the vocational and technical study, seriously hindered the development of vocational education. Vocational education as an important part of education, it has a major impact for the development of education. So we must attach importance to the development of vocational education, but there are hard enrollment, enrollment system design is not perfect and so on a series of problems, so we need to learn the experience of other countries in the past. This article through to the analysis of the tang dynasty the development of vocational education, analyzing the reasons behind its development,find out the solutions, to offer reference for the development of today’s vocational education.The imperial examination system is as a way to feudal ruling class to recruit talent, and the establishment of its system influence by the feudal society, political, economic and cultural conditions at that time. Due to the contradiction between two sides, social factors effecting on the imperial examination system, at the same time, the imperial examination was made especial development for the society at that time and having significant influence on cultural development and the political rule. Therefore, in the process of study on vocational education of tang dynasty, we not only need to consider the factors of the imperial examination system, but also associated with other social factors. Comprehensive consideration can more objectively reflect the real development of things, and get more impartial findings.In this paper, the thesis of research mainly involves three basic areas, the social regulating mechanism, the imperial examination system and the development of the vocational college. So the research framework of this paper is according to the following research to set up.1.The occurrence, essence, characteristics and functions of social regulating mechanism.2.The evolution of the tang dynasty, the content of imperial examination system, number of test, process and test results.3.The status of the development of vocational education in the tang dynasty imperial examination system, from the test content, number, process and results to analysis the development of vocational education, based on the analysis of the political, economic and social aspects.4.The development of vocational education under College entrance examination system in our country. Explore the development of vocational education under the college entrance examination system present situation and the reasons behind.5.Comparative study for recruit students of ancient and modern, the comparative studies between the imperial examination system and the college entrance examination enrollment system, to explore the status of the development of vocational education under the two kinds of system.6.A comparative study under the two systems on vocational education offer a reference for the development of nowadays vocational education.
