According to case study of peasant-workers and urban residents, this thesis gives a general analysis of situation and points out that the conflict is a typical representation of social conflict during the system transformation period.After simply analyzing the character and life situation of peasant-workers group in cities, this thesis gives a general analysis of situation about conflict between peasant-workers and urban residents. Such as the intension and manner of conflict, the fields of conflict, the scope of conflict, the direction of conflict, the obligation of conflict, the ways to solve the conflict between peasant-workers and urban residents. Further, this thesis emphasizes that conflict between peasant-workers and urban residents not only have the dysfunction of destroying social order and hurting group's mind, but also have the function of accelerating cities' development, enhancing group conform into society and being social safety valve.This thesis establishes interpretative frame and searches deep-rooted reasons about conflicts after introducing theories of social conflict, group and estate. How does the differentiation of interest caused by market economy bring the conflict between two interest group? As macro variable, how state intervention, especial Chinese typical dual system of the city and the countryside, affects status of peasant-workers and urban residents? How group consciousness exerts a profound influence on the more covert field of culture? After pointing out the reasons, this thesis gives a countermeasure about conflict and points out the difficulties of settling conflict.This thesis analyzes the causes of the conflict roundly, pointing out that the historical, political, economic and cultural factors of conflict aredue to social transformation, institutions dividing up the city and the countryside, market economy driving for profit, crisis of identity departure in two ways .This thesis emphasizes the effective countermeasure about resolve the conflict, including reforming the institutions of registered permanent residence, breaking dual social structure, realizing synchronizing the city and the countryside ,reforming managements about city, promoting reciprocity between peasant-workers and urban residents, improving the building of city community, building up the ability of self-serving and sense of description to city which peasant-workers should have, establishing forecast institution about the conflict, reducing the intention and intensity of conflict.This thesis emphasizes that following the advance of social reform, peasant-workers and urban residents not only adjust their attitude to the reform according to their income, but also adjust their degree and manner of cooperating to central government and other participants according to contradiction and income between each other. That is why the conflict between two groups always continues and will be enforced constantly .So the conflict between two groups becomes a typical social problem in the end.If peasant-workers' swarming into city is the result of the opening of economic structure, the way to resolve the conflict between peasant-workers and urban residents is due to the degree which social structure can be opened to. But now, the degree of social structure's ability to contain peasant-workers in cities is still limited. Before the complete reform of institution of registered permanent residence ,as well as social welfare institution and social security institution, dual labor institution, and before market economy can not give an absolute and permanent project for peasant-workers to get citizenship...
