This research aimed at modifying the questionnaire SPTCT (School Physics Teachers' Conceptions of Teaching) so it could be used to assess the teaching conceptions of teachers of all subjects. The new questionnaire was named TCT (Teachers' Conceptions of Teaching) and used to investigate the teaching conceptions of teachers in the National Experimental Regions in the newly curriculum reform. Both qualitative and qualitative approaches were applied in this research. Semi-structured interviews were carried on to collect evidences to identify the conceptual model on which the SPTCT was built and, to collect information for the modification. The TCT was then constructed according the implications of the qualitative approach. This revised questionnaire contains five scales and 44 items. Both the reliability and validity of this instrument were satisfactory and supported the qualitative findings except for four items that were dropped according to the statistical analysis. It was found that in the National Experimental Regions, (1) most teachers accepted the cultivating orientation while they still adopted the molding orientation in some extend. (2) Differences between teachers of different regions and different subjects were found. These implied that different approaches should be adopted in the re-training programs in changing the teaching conceptions of teachers in different regions and of different subjects.
