The 21st century is a Knowledge Economy era, which is based on the knowledge and abilities; it puts forward new and higher requirements to the geography educationists, Ini the new round of geography courses reform, overall impelling the Quality Education (QE) has been launched. It requires us to regard the developments of students as the base, create circumstances and conditions availing to the independent improvements of the students, and train the students in geography study abilities, global conception and humanity spirit.Class-teaching is a primary way to execute the QE reform. What theories and methods of assessment we will apply and how to make an objective, just and thorough assessment in the middle school's geography class-teaching, is a new problem suggested by the era and the society. So learning how to assess and analyze the class-teaching quality, through the scientific methods realizing other's advantages and own shortages, is a valid approach for each geography teacher to improving own teaching, expanding the students' knowledge, developing their potentials and creativities.This paper investigates and studies the currency of geography class-teaching assessments in middle schools in 'Shanghai, and is dividedinto four parts. The first part briefly introduces the suggested background of this problem; the second part defines some significant conceptions in relation to this study, and makes a brief analysis about the past studies concerned with the class-teaching assessments; the third part introduces the investigation to the class-teaching assessments in the middle schools in Shanghai; the last part emphasizes on the analyses to the problems existing in the geography class-teaching assessments in Shanghai's middle schools, and puts some countermeasures and proposal forward pointing to these problems.
