Part One, from the perspective of classroom sociology, lays emphasis on the categorization of causes of the difficulty of some junior high school students in learning English; based on the analysis of the causes, Part Two proposes some measures and strategies for their improvement in learning English from the perspective of classroom sociology.Part One gives a full analysis on the factors that lead to the underachievers in learning English in junior high schools. The causing factors consist of two aspects: the learning environment of the classroom and the language environment of the classroom. The learning environment of the classroom includes the physical environment such as the arrangements and rearrangements of the seats, and the social environment in class such as the interaction between the teacher and students, class collectivity, non-verbal communication and the teacher's instruction. The language environment of the classroom primarily refers to the covert language environment such as the layout of the classroom and language context. The above-mentioned aspects restrain the opportunities of the underachievers to actively participate in classroom activities and language practice, therefore are the causes of the difficulty of the underachievers in learning English.Part Two, based on the analysis on the causes from the perspective of classroom sociology, proposes strategies for the underachievers' improvement in learning English in junior high school. Likewise, the improvement strategies are also explored mainly from the following two aspects: the improvement of the learning environment of the classroom and the creation of sound language environment of the classroom. The improvement of the leaning environment of the classroom relies on theadjustment of the physical environment of the classroom, and the optimization of the social environment of the classroom such as establishing harmonious interaction between teacher and students and competitive and cooperative spirit of class collectivity. Meanwhile, it is important to improve teacher's instruction in updating educational and pedagogical theories, emphasizing presenting and applying language points in certain context, and strengthening student's reading skills, etc. As to the creation of the sound language environment of the classroom, it is essential to make full use of classroom space, to beautify the layout of the classroom, and to actively map out language context The purpose of the above-mentioned measures lie in fattening and creating opportunities for the underachievers to take part in classroom activities and language practice, and in increasing the language input, so as to raise their interest and facilitate their improvement. It is from the perspective of classroom sociology to study the problems of the under-achievement of some junior high school students in learning English that extends away from the psychological study, and open a new field. In addition, through the measures and strategies for improvement gained through the analysis and study on factors that result in the difficulty and poor performance of the underachievers in learning English, light can be shed on the study of the underachievers in learning other subjects.
