The new curriculum evaluation is characterized of "developmental" instead of "distinguishing" and "selecting" as before. More and more people insist that evaluation should help to improve teaching and learning. To meet this demand, we need to try to find out the students' learning process, and then give the students some helpful advice. So we call for the processing evaluation. The processing evaluation is the result of development and richness of instruction evaluation theories and practices. It advocates all-around and authentical evaluation, and syncretizes the learning and the evaluation, namely "evaluating in the learning, improving learning in the evaluation. ""Evaluating in learning" means we should look the learning as a dynamic and changeful process, and collect information about students' learning state, strategies, motivation, etc. in the authentical context, so that we can understand students' learning correctly. By adopting a lot of approaches to gather information and evaluate students, such as: observation, interview, portfolio, rubric, etc. we can gain a high quality evaluation. But some problems still affect the quality of the processing evaluation, such as the evaluator' s bias, logical errors and the inadequacy of information."improving learning in the evaluation" , it means urging students to reflect their learning state, and then do something to improve learning by feeding the conclusion back to them. While doing this, the teacher should pay more attention to the feedback strategies.
