The aim and purpose of this research is to explore the relevant questions about school-based teacher in-service education and management in Macau high schools. This research not only examines the basic concepts about school-based teacher in-service education and the management of school-based teacher in -service education but also combines the practical running of some local school bases. The data is collected by questionnaires, which are conducted by the researcher based on the current school-based teacher in-service education of Macau. The findings of this research are expected to help schools or educational organizations to design their plans regarding school-based teacher in-service education.Conclusions are drawn as follows:1. School-based in-service teacher education is the new trend for teacher in-service education of Macau.2. Teacher's recognition and attitudes toward in-service education are different based on different background of teachers.3. The practice of school-based teacher in-service education in high school of Macau is working well.4. In general, teachers prefer school-based in-service education.5. The problems of school-based in-service education in high school of Macau are : the obligation to be trained is not fully understood by the teachers of Macau, a teaching evaluation mechanism should be set up, the evaluation system of in-service education should be measured in a systematic way and the management of school-based in-service education should be enhanced.According to the conclusions above, the researchers suggest: 1. To high school teachers:1) Equip ourselves quite well to take up the challenge.2) Acquire contemporary knowledge and participate actively.3) Enhance teacher professional development.2. To the school administration:1) To set up a mechanism for in-service training.2) To set up the file system for the training items and function it continuously.3) To regard the school-based, in-service teacher education as a long-term project.3. To the Board of Education:1) To set up an in-service education motivation mechanism — to constitute the teacher assessment as soon as possible.2) To constitute the policy of developing teacher professionals.3) To manage effectively and set up a specialist team to support the school-based in-service teacher education.
