Inquiry Learning, which has changed the former passive teacher-dominating learning pattern dramatically, lays emphasis upon inspiring learning initiative, fostering the abilities of enquiring, seeking, analyzing and solving problems independently. Therefore, it presents significant reform toour traditional education idea. Nowadays Inquiry Learning is applied extensively in the sphere of elementary education, and has been achieving good results.Under the new circumstance of China' s playing more important role in global economy, our secondary vocational education bears the vital responsibility of training high quality workforce. Consequently should its curriculums stress both specialty knowledge and more importantly, the abilities for certain posts. However, our present secondary vocational teaching is still rigidly adhere to subject systems, ignoring cultivation of interest and practical abilities. Therefore the old pattern ought to be reformed to meet the needs of students and the labor market.I know from nearly decade of teaching experience in secondary vocational school that the idea of Inquiry Learning is accord with the tendency of reform of secondary vocational education, it is feasible to establish Inquiry Learning curriculum with feature of secondary vocational education. The detailed research plan to apply Inquiry Learning theory in chemistry teaching for aquatic cultivation was based on study of relevant theory; assessment of the effect of old teaching method: soliciting opinions of students, teachers on specific courses and employers. The research sustained for two semesters and through the analysis of evidence, I come to the conclusion that new learning pattern embodies the advanced education idea This "giving-priority-to-student" method inspires student' s interest and their thirsty for knowledge, developing significantly their ability of utilizing theory and operating in practice.
