Scientific literacy education has became the core and focus of the science education reformation and has aroused many people's concern. How to understand and explore the process of developing scientific literacy in chemistry teaching is the key of realizing the new teaching aim. The connotation of scientific literacy is very rich, including scientific knowledge, scientific ability, scientific methods, scientific consciousness and scientific quality. This essay mainly focuses on the development of scientific methods and talks about the basic connotation of scientific methods and its position and positive role, also the practical meaning of scientific method education.On the foundation of a comparison between the present situation of scientific method education in China and that in USA, the writer analyses some problems in the present scientific method education in China. With the practical situation of the present course reformation, it advances a scientific method of developing students by solving problems in class. The writer discuss the theory basis of problem-solving, gives the corresponding teaching pattern, and design the teaching process of problem-solving.In the practical exploration, Two classes of Senior 1 are chosen as the test class and the comparison class. In daily teaching activities, the problem-solving method is often used, and the development of scientific method is paid great attention to in the test class. While the comparison Class is given courses in the usual way, which emphasizes the explanation given by the teacher in class. After a term, the analysis of the test result shows that the problem-solving method is an effective one in developing the students' ability of solving problems if it's used in class teaching. And the mastery over the scientific method not only relates to the development of scientific Irteracy but to the students' level of the mastery of knowledge.At the end of this essay, some problems met with in practice are also discussed.
