Chinese is a very important course offered in the secondary school. Its importance consists in its role as the cornerstone of all the other courses and the tool of exchanging thoughts. It can even serve as the means of learning knowledge and technology and of carrying them out. Owing to such great significance as mentioned above, the teaching of Chinese thus plays so great a role as none of other courses can substitute in shaping and developing students' thinking quality. On the other hand, Chinese is the means by which thinking and language are combined and trained together. In the course of the teaching, thinking and language can complement each other and interact mutually and harmoniously. In the light of the current situation in which fostering students' thinking quality is neglected in the course of Chinese teaching, this paper is aimed at illustrating the importance of developing students' thinking ability according to the teaching contents and their characteristics. In order to develop their thinking quality in an all-round way and enhance their integrating capacity of Chinese learning, it tries to seek some specific means to develop such quality. And to get to the root of the matter, further investigations are undertaken to study it in the eyes of improving teachers' modes of thinking and their ways of teaching.
