Mathematical thinking methods is the crucial understanding to the mathematical concept, preposition, rules, methods and technique. Hence, it is the core to mathematical knowledge and the soul to mathematical content. It is the guideline and basic methods for mathematical activities. It will give students the path to the essence of mathematics, and learn about the way to reason and solve mathematical problem. It is the magic weapon to combine the mentality, ability and achieving knowledge, also the significant foundation for the students' future development. Teaching and research of mathematical thinking methods at middle school level is becoming an important subject and more and more people in the mathematical teaching circle are paying attention to it.After studying the "Guideline for the middle school mathematics teaching" and documents related to mathematical thinking, plus the summary of my own teaching practice, this essay is trying to list the often used mathematical thinking methods in middle school teaching. Teaching function, principles, strategy and approaches are discussed in details in this essay. We also gave some successful examples in teaching practice, which we hope will provide reference to people in our circle .As a scientific method of thinking, mathematical thinking methods has its general rule and broad application as well. We believe, it is not only a mere guidance to solve of mathematical problems, but also an important thinking method to enhance the mathematical ability in thinking and analyzing problem. It will definitely improve the students' general ability in solving all problems and thus improve their comprehensive ability and provide a sound base for their further development.
