Before long, Central Propaganda Department and EducationDepartment set down and printed " General Programmer forimplementation of Developing and Cultivating National Spiritin Elementary and High School"that put forward developing andcultivating national spirit should be included in every linkand aspect in the teaching of elementary and high school.Especially, it says that Chinnese Wushu should be introducedappropriately to P.E. teaching. As one of Chinese traditional sports, Wushu is thequintessence of the Chinese culture, with a long history,various of forms, profound cultural base, fully shows theChinese spirit, wisdom and excellent tradition. Wushu playseffective roles not only in improving the health, but also inthe spiritual education. Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008 willbring unprecedented opportunities as well as challenges. It'sa turning point for further emphasis, research and developmentof national Wushu, so that it can enter into Olympic Games soonthat is great trend of development of Wushu. In this goodcondition, it seems very important to know the currentdeveloping situation of Wushu and take countermeasures toimprove Wushu education and teaching.Using the methods of documentation, survey, interviews,mathematical statistics and colloquium, this paperinvestigates, analyzes and studies the students of elementaryand high school, their parents, their P.E. teachers and theleaders of these schools.For the present, there are many deficiencies in Wushu'steaching in our province. Using those research methodsmentioned above, this paper finds out such problems as weakstrength of social propaganda, less emphasis from school,little knowledge of the students and their parents about Wushu,shortage of teachers, less class hours and competition, lackof effective organization, and so on. In response to, this paperputs forward some tentative ideas and suggestions including howto improve knowledge, increase popularity, improve the contentof the textbook, strengthen the teacher's quality, stress onscientific research and activity.In education system, the government and local educationauthorities should take corresponding policies, laws andregulations, and force the elementary and high school topolarize Wushu, together with supporting of media. In addition,the reform of Wushu must keep up with the new reform ofcurriculum, otherwise, it will be passive in elementary andhigh school.As for shortage of teachers in elementary and high school,this paper suggests to train a great deal of Wushu teachers andimprove their thinking quality and vocational level. What'smore, ethics programmer should be held to strengthen the P.E.teacher's sense of responsibility, ambition so that they wouldwork more diligently. And this paper also says that it isnecessary to print systemic textbook of Wushu and separateedition that should adapt method to local condition, from easyto difficult, simplify steps and keep essence, pay attentionto attack, closely related to the time, embodying defense,taste, fashion, health, interest etc. Besides, Wushu's ritualconstruction, Wushu's morality and fashionable clothes allhave something with Wushu's external image.Local education authorities at different levels shouldincrease supervisor, check and evaluation of Wushu teaching andorganize regularly competition of Wushu teaching in order topolarize and develop Wushu. P.E. major and Wushu major of NormalUniversity should simplify and reform teaching content andimprove their practical value as well as skill and quality sothat more competent Wushu teachers would appear in elementaryand high school. This will lay a good foundation for Wushuteaching.P.E. teachers of elementary and high school should putemphasis on spreading Wushu culture, cultivating patriotism,developing skill, raising the students' interests andbuilding up their willpower. By doing so, Wushu activity ofelementary and high school can develop healthly and Chineseculture can be carried on in P.E. teaching as well.
