Punishment, exists for a long time, as a special educational means todisabuse the behaviors of students in educational process. However,punishment has been misunderstood in educational process because thatpeople lack of theoretical and scientific comprehension. It likes thefollowing, some teachers dare not punish afraid of hurting the body ormental of students, so that they have no activity even if the punishmentneeded, as a result, it weakened the moral education, as an antithesis,others pervert punishment or use it in false, not only fails to get theeducational aim but also leads to more bad behaviors, even brings onsome educational tragedy. Therefore, it must have deeply theoretical andpractice value that we make a deep research on punishment in education,discover the status and impact of punishment in education, and make aprobing on the principle and regular for using of punishment.Punishment in education, as the encouragement in it, is an evaluatingfrom teachers on cognizance and behavior of students. The aim of it is onchanging the direction and intensity of those punished by outer tamper.Punishment easily put the students into unhappy experience because thatit always evaluate by negation methods. So, the function of punishment isdisabusing and hectoring. In the development, justified punishment isfavorable to the socializing of person and coming into being of healthypersonality. As a result, punishment should exist in education, but the aimof punishment is not itself but helping the students recognize the essenceand effect degree of their behaviors, and improve their moral cognizance,promote their behaviors changing. As an educational means, punishmentnot play an active role in every place of education. Only is it used toeducate students on thing, morality, the disciplining of attitudes andmanners, not used in intelligence education. It is decided by the essenceof punishment and by the peculiarity of education. It must be notintegrated and also not realistic if only have commending, but withoutpunishing in education. The reason why punishment must be used ineducation, is not only the reality of need of being disabused in force aboutbad behaviors of students, but also punishing have deeply philosophicand psychological evidence.How to use the punishment correctly in education? The authorargues the following.The first, we should build up three basic guidance thinking. As thefollowing, firstly we must clear that the punishment is not means forintelligence education but for moral education;next, the punishment mustbe fixed in with the age feature of psychological development of children,because it plays different roles in different stages of moral development;the third, the punishment serves for educational aim, in other words, itselfis not the aim, but aims to promote the development of students.The second, it should go by five principles when we punish students.They should have a certain aim, use the flexible method, have approvermeasure, combination with other educational methods, and undertakingnew problem not appear after solving old problem.Last, in educational practice, we should avoid several mistake places.Those are, thinking punishment of redemption better than punishment ofdeprivation;teachers using punishment freely;punishment being relatedto achievements of students.
