The concept "hidden curriculum" (HC) was initially put forward by the American scholar P. W. Jackson in 1966, and systematically developed and discussed by those curriculum scholars hereafter. In our country the essays for introduction and research on HC didn' t appear until the mid-1980s, but they made the problem of HC come into the field of pedagogical research and thereby it was concerned in theoretical world. Though a short history of the research on HC we have until now, the research has turned up a strong trend. At the beginning of the 21 century, according to the analysis on HC and the reference on the essence of curriculum, the PE scholars in China tried to give a definition of HC themselves: the summation of various elements of PE culture, which is presented in an indirect and inner-hidden way and designed in a formal pattern in accordance with the purpose of education and the object of the school PE education, within the dimension of school. It can be drawn from the discussion on HC that the students in school would not only be imparted with the knowledge from purposeful and designed courses, but also affected by some other factors without the formal and planned courses, for instance, the material environment of the school, the human relationship within PE activities, the institutionalized and non-institutionalized PE culture, the personality, the behavior and manner of a PE teacher, etc. All of these factors would influence the formation of student' s knowledge, attitude, belief and outlook of value regularly, unsystematically and potentially. In order to carry through The Standards of PE & Healthy Curriculum issued by the ministry of education and implement The Decision on Reform and Development of Fundamental Education by the State Council, and advocate a complete and harmonious development of school PE, as well as cultivating a student-encircled personality through PE and improving the student' s communicative and social adaptable ability through the student' s development on affection, the author of this thesis has made an investigation and research on the present status of HC in primary school PE from 12 different primary schools in Suzhou urban district when methods of data collection, questionnaire investigation, mathematic statistics, participant-observation and interview are widely used. It has been found out that there is obvious deficiency on the scientific recognition on HC in these schools through the analysis of various elements of HC, and therefore to set a mind of "health first" should become a urgent task of present school PE under the tenet of the combination of humane education and physical education. Also there needs a further perfection on the systematic deficiency on how to carry out the value, conception, practical methods in school PE for the ultimate purpose of serving PE teaching. To summarize the analysis of the thesis, we could make a conclusion that it is a necessary demand to emphasize on HC in PE, which fits for the development of school PE, and to foster the physical and mental health of student by the implementation of HC in PE with the aim of the student' s all-rounded development. Thus the thesis has also revealed the present status of HC in PE in Suzhou urban district, pointed out the problems, analyzed the differences, and proposed a strategy on the development of HC in primary school PE in Suzhou, all of which, the author hopes, could provide a theoretic reference on the development of the reform of PE curriculum of primary schools in Suzhou, and accelerate the research process of on HC in PE of primary school as soon as possible in order to explore a mode which could suits for the HC in PE of primary school with...
