This article illustrates the reading ability of mathematics. At the same time, it defines two different concepts between mathematics reading and mathematics reading comprehension based on related theories of Educational Psychology and analyzes how to improve students' mathematics reading comprehension. This article also analyzes the differences between mathematics and Chinese reading comprehension and clarifies the relations and differences between active reading and passive reading. Through the interviews for frontline math teachers and the questionnaires for students, the author has done some research on how to develop students' mathematics reading comprehension in classroom teaching, considering the present situation of middle school mathematics reading and basic understanding of mathematics reading comprehension from teachers and students. And also the author has made some teaching experiment about how to apply two different methods of mathematics reading and teaching strategies to teaching practice in Wujin Senior High School. It includes preview in class, classroom teaching and assignments after class. After research, the author has drawn some conclusions about mathematics reading comprehension.(1) The key is to adopt active reading to improve mathematics reading comprehension.(2) Mathematics reading comprehension has to be achieved gradually, and so the habit of active reading has to be formed step by step.(3) Teachers should create an atmosphere for students to do active reading and give proper evaluation simultaneously.(4) Improvement of mathematics reading comprehension should be through the whole process of teaching. Students should be encouraged to go out of the class to learn in daily life., thus they can enhance mathematics reading comprehension.
