In the development of mathematics education, there always have been two basic orientations for a long time: usefulness and thinking training. These two aspects often experienced confronting, adjusting, equilibrating, mixing and developing, and the reform of every country has reflected the process.So England is taken for example. Through showing its evolution of the mathematics education, and studying the main document: Mathematics In The National Curriculum, I consider that England lays emphasis on usefulness in mathematics. And I will analyze how England deals with its curriculum, teaching material, teaching method and subjects synthesizing to reflect usefulness.The causes of stressing usefulness are so many. Beginning from the background introduction of culture, society, economy to research the causes, I make comprehensive analysis of the development of mathematics and the effect of the evolution of British education ideology.Finally, I pondered over the development of the mathematics education in our country and put forward several proposals. Besides, the limitations of the study and the future direction have been illustrated. |
