| In front of the challenges of the new century, every country has intensively realized the importance of education to society, causing a new turn of curriculum reform to rise up. In order to increase our understanding of a country's basic educational advantages and disadvantages, and to take the benefit of other countries successful achievements and experiences, we should enhance curriculum comparison researches. The Kingdom of Bahrain has a representative model of education in the Arabic world, specially the Arabian Gulf area. Bahrain even used to execute a uniform standard of curriculum and teaching materials with other Arabian countries in the Gulf Area. The long-standing Chinese education system is a representative of East Asian nation's education systems. Recently, the two countries issued new curriculum standards, and they are testing new teaching materials, so the curriculum reform became a significant matter for the majority of science education workers.This paper selects the Bahraini and Chinese junior middle schools physics curriculum as a research object. The paper summarizes the theory of Comparative Education, briefly reviewed the junior middle schools physics curriculum development situation in the both countries. Through the texts of the curriculum from the two countries, the author has researched junior middle schools science (physics) curriculum standards and representative teaching materials, compared and analyzed the curriculum design, curriculum objectives, curriculum content, and the teaching materials composition and design. Based on the author's experience as a teacher in the middle schools of Bahrain and the investigation of middle schools in China, the author made an actuality based impersonal comparison records and narrates.Hereby, turn to think over the advantages and disadvantages of the two countries junior middle schools physics curriculum, in order to put forward some corresponding advice separately for the two countries.By this paper the author hopes to increase the understanding and communication in education between Bahrain and China and to promote the junior middle school's science curriculum development. |
