From The Experience Of The U.s. Career Education High School Career Education Curriculum

The career education is an education imagination which focuses onstudents' career expansion, with purpose of polishing the student'scareer by career awareness, career exploration, career planning anddecision-making. As the original country in career education, Americanhas several decades of the experience and has established an excellentsystem of career education and more scientific mode, which promoted thecareer development for the students. In China, career education is notextended properly, a few on the university and vocation school, littleon general high school. Even in university and vocation school, careerteachers do not make targets clear, while the content is monotonous.The general high school education is the high-level elementaryeducation in China, with the purposes of well preparing the students forthe work-oriented society and increasing their opportunities for furthereducation. Career education in general high school is also a necessityfor students' self-recognition, career recognition and ability, and theneeds of society. This article is discussed in studying the developmentin American career education, courses setting and its performances, onthe basis of Super' s concept of career education. And after study on theexisting condition and the drawbacks in execution of career education inChina, we realized the poor conditions as following: less emphasis innotion, lack of studies, assurance of related laws, and few teachers.The article draws the successful experiences from America, in view ofimportance of career education in Chinese general high school, we proposethat it is reasonable to launch career education by course mode in China.Depending on the features of students in individual phrase, under theguidance of good course setting, we introduce how to decide on the target,content, performance of the courses in China, proposes the principles on courses designing, and gives ideas on the existing condition of careereducation in general high school in China.
