During the present social transition period, China's urban-rural relation isshifting from isolated state to interacting state under multi-impetus. With theimprovement of urban-rural relation, prolonged large scale of migration fromrural areas to urban areas has taken place, which brings great vigor to thedevelopment of urban and rural areas. Reviewing history, we find that, from1957 to 1965, China's urban-rural relation changed greatly and thaturban-rural population migration went through a turbulent process in whichlarge scale of rural population migrated to cities and then returned to thecountryside. In this fluctuating and reversal process, what picture does theurban-rural population migration unfold for us? How does the urban-ruralpopulation migration and urban-rural relation interact? Reviewing history, whatrealistic significance does the interaction between the urban-rural populationmigration and urban-rural relation make for dealing With the present populationmigration and urban-rural relation?Taking Guangdong province as an example, this thesis discusses andanalyzes the fluctuating and reversal historical process of urban-ruralpopulation migration from 1957 to 1965 and studies the relationship betweenurban-rural population migration and urban-rural relation with several researchmethodologies such as literature methodology, comparison methodology andso on. In the introduction, the thesis introduces the research of urban-ruralpopulation migration and urban-rural relation and presents the concept ofpopulation migration, city, town and township. Chapter One studies thetendency and characteristics of the urban-rural population migration inGuangdong province from 1957 to 1965 by dividing it into three periods of time. From 1957 to 1965, urban-rural population migration went through a turbulentprocess from active state to reversal state and then to stationary state. Thewhole process was strongly influenced and restricted by social and economicpolicies. Chapter Two presents the relationship between urban-ruralpopulation migration and urban-rural relation. The thesis points out that theurban-rural relation gradually shifted from equal and interacting state to unequal and isolated state from 1957-1965, which caused urban-ruralpopulation migration correspondingly changed from active state to isolatedstate. Thus, the thesis points out that urban-rural relation will influenceurban-rural population migration at last; the condition of urban-rural populationmigration will also influence urban-rural relation. Only equal and interactingurban-rural relation is helpful for urban-rural migration to be active and orderly, otherwise, isolated urban-rural relation will obstruct urban-rural migration. Onlyhealthy and orderly urban-rural population migration is helpful to thecommunication and interaction between urban areas and rural areas.Otherwise, disorderly and turbulent urban-rural population migration willworsen urban-rural relation and harm both city and countryside development.Chapter Three discusses the successful experiences and existing problems indealing with the urban-rural population migration and urban-rural relation inGuangdong province from 1957 to 1965.Based on above discussion, thepaper puts forward several proposals for dealing with the present urban-ruralpopulation and urban-rural relation.
