As an important section in the reform of fundamental educational curriculum, research-oriented study plays a main role in the comprehensive education part emphasizing activities. It is also considered to be a new study mode by which the students, under the guidance of teachers or adults, independently discovery and explore questions in order to gain some conclusions and now this mode of study can be seen in all courses in high schools. Being a focus in education all over the world at present, some comprehensive curriculum connecting with inquiry study in the field of mathematics has been set up, which is also an inviting trend in China. Without completed systematic research in mathematics inquiry study in high school, this article tries to do some research on its practice in terms of study objects, aims, contents and methods based on analysis of its background and theoretical bases. What is research study? What are the difference between research study and traditional teaching methods? What is mathematics research study? Then next sheds light on the theoretical and empirical bases on which to carry out research study. The final part poses several problems involving the implementation of research study. In this way, the author, aiming at meeting new demands and reforming some unfavorable modes of mathematics education, takes the study modes and evaluation ways into consideration in order to bring up more creative and capable talents.
