In the early half of the twentieth century, China was faced with hardship in and out of home with social turbulence. Problems aroused were especially connected with the political, economical and cultural problems in rural areas. With the will to turn the declining situation, Liang Shuming had made deep exploration and speculation on social reform problems of China. He had put forward many reasonable assertions that again focused on the rural educational problems and therefore brought about vigorous movement on rural education .This finally lead to the formation of Liang Shuming rural education theory. The current paper will make explanation and analysis on the cause, practice, influence and significance of the rural educational trend as well as its inspiration towards socialist new rural area construction and rural educational reform..In the first chapter, the author of the current paper analyzed the cause of the Liang Shuming rural educational theory. Firstly, China was faced with hardship in and out of home with social turbulence. Problems aroused were especially connected with the political, economical and cultural problems in rural areas. Secondly, Liang Shuming made explanations of the chaos of China from a cultural aspect. Thirdly, western educational system has met frustration in China, and the key lies in the fact that the social and cultural background of the two educational systems exists in great differences. Finally, the dream, expectations and personal characteristics of Liang Shuming is also an important cause for the arise of Liang Shuming rural education theory.In the second chapter, the author made a research on the contents of Liang Shuming rural education theory. Strong practicability is an important feature of rural educational theory. This theory runs through the whole practicing activity from the process of its sprout, development and perfection period. The contents of Liang Shuming rural education theory mainly concludes objects, organizations, purposes, functions, contents, ways, etc.In the third chapter, the author made a research on the significance and influence of Liang Shuming rural education theory. Liang Shuming rural education theory and the rural educational movement have great and wide impact in and out of China, not only on the reform of educational theory but also on the domestic politics at that time. But Liang Shuming rural education theory still has many limitations and defects. This is also introduced in the current paper.In the fourth chapter, the author made a research on inspiration on present rural educational reform and socialist new rural construction. At present rural education has many problems such as low-quality teachers, imbalance of area development and disjunction between teaching material and rural reality, etc. these problems can gain beneficial inspiration from Liang Shuming rural education theory and the rural educational movement.
