1.IntroductionWith the deepening of worldwide education reform and the accumulation of experience, It is gradually recognized that teachers, as one of the three main factors that contribute to the education reform, are indispensable in the field of education reform and drawing much attention globally. Presently, with shortening physicochemical cycles, and quickened updating of knowledge, the knowledge gained in school can't meet the rapid change of each passing day and the one-off education can no longer meet the need of society. The education of teacher includes continuing education rather than the one-off education, International organizations and countries from all over the world are paying more and more attention to the issue of continuing education. As one of the most important means of education, physical education has built a solid foundation for the all round cultivation of talented people ethically, intellectually and physically. PE teachers are members of the teaching community and the continuing education of PE teachers has drawn attention.2.MethodologyThe methodology of documentation, questionnaire, and synthesis analysis are used in the dissertation.3.Results and Conclusion3.1 The research of continuing education, which is the present focus of attention both at home and abroad, is more mature in other countries especially the developed countries, and they have accumulated rich experience in practice and formed their own way of development.3.2 In this article, we maintain that continuing education is a way of education in the area of ideology, politics and professional capability for primary and secondary school teachers in service who have already achieved qualifications for teaching. The purpose of continuing education is to improve their overall quality, including ideology and politics, professional ethics, professional knowledge and skills, and knowledge of the humanities. The continuing education of secondary school PE teachers is included in the continuing education of primary and secondary school teachers. Continuing r education for secondary school PE teachers refers to improving the qualified PE teachers ideologically, politically and professionally. In terms of level, it includes both continuing education for diploma and for non-diploma,in terms of specifications, there are induction training for new teachers, post training for all teachers, promotion training, training for backbone teachers, and so on. In terms of form, there is full-time education, self education, teaching by correspondence, night school, network education, open education, and so on. In terms of the education content there is education to update knowledge, improve the ability of teaching, and education to master modern technique of PE teaching, improve ways of teaching and research capacity to understand new developments, new theories, new technologies, new skills and so on. "Training" and "Attending in advanced studies" are two forms of "continuing education". Training refers to studies with no upgrade of diploma, while attending in advanced studies leads to the upgrade of diploma.3.3 In this research we studied the present continuing education for PE teachers carried out in middle schools in Jiangsu Province, and analyzed the survey results in detail. From the analysis, we found out existing problems on the continuing education of middle school PE teachers in Jiangsu Province, including an insufficient understanding from managers, educators and students, undiversified educational institution for continuing education, inappropriate form of education, to the lack of both effectiveness and pertinence in education content, absence of a indispensable mechanisms of guarantee and so forth.3.4 The emphasis of this research are the suggestions for continuing education of middle school PE teachers in Jiangsu Province ,such as :how to update outmoded concept of education, how to establish positive educational concepts, how to expand the base of education and form diversified and solid competition net work for continuing education, how to design the content of continuing education upon different teachers requests at different levels, and how to built and ensure a sound protection and incentive mechanism.
