On National Defense Education And The Cultivation Of Comprehensive Qualities Of College Students

Education is the fundamental task of colleges and universities, and yet the cultivation of comprehensive quality is the basic educational concept. This article takes a new perspective to bring in the merits, and advantages of military education for reference of national education to promote its reformation and development, and specifically explores the function and realization of comprehensive quality cultivation in the defense education of undergraduates.To classify defense education into the three styles as occupational style, professional style, and studying style, the author brings forth a new idea. With the concept of comprehensive quality education of undergraduates striking root in people's hearts gradually, it is a must to grasp the key to realize it from three aspects, including the characteristic of times, the base of theory and the emphasis of cultivation.Defense education is not only the major content in the comprehensive quality cultivation of undergraduates, but also the prominent means. To analyze the determinative role that the systemization of defense education plays in the realization of the function of comprehensive quality cultivation, the author brings forth another new idea. The systemization of defense education, which includes the specific property of the value of defense knowledge, the characteristic of the fusion of defense skills and the inspiring features of defense spirits, coincides with the demand for comprehensive quality cultivation. Besides, the defense education targets at strengthening and penetrates to extend the function of fostering comprehensive quality.To bring into full play of the function of the comprehensive quality cultivation in the defense education, we are required to have a clear but not blurred prerequisite to realize that it is the demand of national interests, the requirement of school education and the desire of students to become useful people. The organic and flexible design of contents, the reasonable structure and the proper combination are also conductive to the realization of fostering people with comprehensive quality. At the same time, we must carry out long instead of short term practice, in which we should concentrate to intensify, continue to implement and penetrate into multiple lines and fields to achieve this goal.
