With the development of Macau' s social economy and the releasing of thegambling license, lots of senior high school students dropped out, which causedattention from all aspects of the society. In such a society filled with lures and choices,the present research focused on that the social adaptation of the youth and its relationwith the personality, social support and self-efficacy. The purpose of the study was toexplore: (1) The understanding of senior high school students' personality, socialsupport and self-efficacy. (2) The actual situation of social support when theyencountering difficulties. (3)Analyze the correlation between the personal context andpersonality, social support and self-efficacy of the students. (4) Explore theinteraction between senior school student's social adaptation and personality, socialsupport and self-efficacy. (5) Based on the findings, appose some concretesuggestions and life counseling which were provided for senior school students. Thestudy was based on the questionnaire surveys. The sample consisted of 1097 seniorhigh school students from 5 high schools in Macau. Instruments used in this studyincluded 'senior senior high school students' life style questionnaire', the status ofneuroticism, Big 5, self-efficacy, social support and social adaptation. Data obtainedin this study were analyzed by descriptive statistics, T-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearsoncorrelation, multiple regression analysis, frequency distribution analysis and so on.The fmdings of this study are summarized as follows:1. The distribution in senior high school students' personalities:Conscientiousness is weaker, neuroticism is outstanding, the personalities ofextraversion, openness and agreeableness are medium. The average of subjectivesupport in social support of senior high school students is the highest. Utilizationsupport is the lowest. The self-efficacy of senior high school students is neutral.Senior high school students' family adaptation is the best, but their school adaptationis the worst.2. Except conscientiousness, neuroticism, agreeableness, extraversion and openness have the difference in personality of senior high school students of differentgender. Except subjective support, objective support and utilization support aredifferent in the senior high school students of different gender. And the senior highschool students of different grades have the difference in utilization support,self-efficacy, family adaptation and school adaptation. And the students of differentsocial economic classes are different in interpersonal adaptation and familyadaptation.3. Senior high school students' personalities correlates with the socialadaptation, social support apparently correlates with social adaptation, self efficacyapparently correlates with social adaptation.4. The alternation of different background, personality, social support andself-efficacy has perdition in social adaptation.
