This paper aims to draw the chemistry teachers'high attention to scientific methods through emphasizing its meaning. Combining with chemistry teaching riality closely, this paper briefly analyzes several facts that affect our methods education and wants to provide reference to this research field . Basing on the theories of philosophy, science, psychology and pedagogy etc, this paper puts forward the process of the chemistry scientific inquiry and the content of the scientific methods education and its goals. At the same, it describes how to make methods education and how to assess the education. This paper not only aims to provide education theory, but also wants to give insight to researchers in this fiels.Scientific method is a way to make science. It is a changing process with the time. According to its extent of use, education methods are divided into philosophy methods, general scienfific methods, and specific scienfifec methods. Chemistry scientific methods are ways to research, analyze and resolve chemistry questions. The process of general nature scientific inquiry used in chemistry is that (1)Discover and define the material, literature and date; find the rule(draw the conclusion). (2) Discover and define the question; collect the material, literature and date; give hypothesies; test the hypothesie; find the rule(draw the conclusion). This process includes many methods. We emphasis on such methods as: (1)put out questions; (2)observation; (3)operation; (4)abstraction; (5)hypothesie; (6)modeling; (7)analogy; (8)classifying; (9)analysis and synthesize; (10)induce and deduction. This paper makes deep and systematic research on each method's definition, character, important roles and its usage. In order to conduct the methods education smoothly, we divide the education goals into five levels:(1) know, (2) understand, (3) simple application, (4)synthesis, (5) assess.The first way to realize the goals is to reform the class teaching. According to the nature scientific method theory, we design two teaching models. Mode l: giving out chemistry question; data of the operation; scientific induction; scienfific conclusion; exchange explanation and application. Model 2: giving chemistry question; giving chemistryh hypothesis; test of the hypothesis, exchange, assess and application.Another important way to teach scientific methods in chemistry is to carry out specific reasearch. During the research, students learn the chemistry like scientists and can be effectively trained the ability of scientific inquiry.Methods education is mainly carried out in classroom and partly after school. It is a basic rule to implement the method educatoin.Implementing the methods education a long and complex process. We should pay attintion to five aspects. 1: combine the unstudied the education with the normal education. 2: combine the knowledge, methods with abilityh. 3: insist on step by step education. 4: use many ways. 5: combine the study with application and reflection.The main content of the assess: the assess of the effect of the students mastering the scientifec method. The effect of improving the teaching and the studente ability. The effect of studentsâ…ˇ emotional improvement. The ways of assess mainly include: traditional test, making paper in order to the emotional fact etc. Whatever kind of assess we take, we should insist on comhining writing test(including oral test) with the hand operation together.In short, the education of method in chemistry education must accord with the higher demand the times go on to ask the modern education. The theoretical exploration and teaching practice will be an insight and reference for the teaching reform of chemistry which is being spread in China whose center is to improve students creative and practicsl ability.
