Literature education, which plays an important role in the Chinese teaching of middle school, is the primitive channel through which middle school students build their human characters. Therefore, Chinese teaching takes its crucial role in developing students'human character. A number of problems, however, have been emerged, through a survey of Chinese teaching in Xindu District, Chengdu City. These problems are quite common in the current Chinese teaching of middle school.According to the survey made among middle school students and teachers, these problems are as follows:1) For Teachers:1. Academic attainment in Chinese language and literature is as not optimistic.2. Lack of ambition and enthusiasm in teaching and research.3 .Teaching out of personal favors;4. Be too haste; Ignoring function of developing students'character in teaching activities.2) For students:1. The amount of reading is not adequate and the reading materials are often chosen out of personal favors;2. Students'methods for reading are of low efficiency and reading time is inadequate; Fail to develop good reading habitsThe remedy strategies are recommended by the author accordingly as follows:1. To exploit the potentialities in teaching and appropriately integrating literature resources for teaching.2. To improve teacher's academic level in Chinese language and literature and capability of appreciating literature works in particular;3 .To strengthen teachers'capability in literature and aesthetic appreciation;To the author, after constant efforts above, the Chinese course will be liked by students and the human character of the next generation will be in good development.
