Since 90s of the 20th century, Howard Gardner, an American psychologist and educationist, also a well-known professor from Harvard University, after long-termed observation and numerous experiments, has proposed that as human beings everyone has 8 intelligence which is inborn, independent and with equal status and that everybody's intelligence is multiple and thus each of us has our strengths and weaknesses as far as our intelligence is concerned. These findings have proved the assumptions that "all things in their being are good for something" and "all trades and professions, every profession produces its own leading authority". It is equally true when it comes into schooling in that each student's potential intelligence should be fully cultivated in order that they can develop both comprehensively and harmoniously.Multiple intelligence theory, particularly the theory that music is one form of our intelligence, has a profound influence on the role that music plays in the construction and development of human intelligence and the methodology that is used in our educating process. It also provides a new perspective and theoretical framework for the practice of musical education of pre-school age children. That is to say, the goal of the musical education for children is not to train and develop musicians but to cultivate their intelligence and quality which are part of a person's comprehensive development. This present study is devoted to the application of multiple intelligence theory into the musical education for pre-school age children and it is composed of four sections.Part one is concerned about the relationship between multiple intelligence theory and the musical education. On the basis of the inter-relation between multiple intelligence theory and art education, this section mainly focus on the relation between multiple intelligence theory and the musical education that is part of art education.Part two is on the theoretical foundation of the integration of multiple intelligence theory and the musical education for pre-school age children from the perspective of philosophy, psychology and pedagogy.Part three is about objectives and operating principles of multiple intelligence development in the musical education for pre-school age children.Part four involves the teaching application of multiple intelligence theory into the musical education for pre-school children and it includes the practice of multiple intelligence in the musical education for pre-school age children, the multiple intelligence development in the teaching model of the musical education for pre-school age children, and the Multiple Intelligence Theory-based musical evaluation for pre-school age children.
