The thesis attempts to make a research of the web-based investigative study pattern of specific subject based on the full understanding of the definition and characteristics of the investigative study. Investigative study, as a new learning pattern, is a strong supplement to the traditional patterns. The education is being challenged by the new century. Investigative, especially web-based, study is very important in improving students'learning style, creative spirit, and practical skills as well as teachers'teaching methods.The research focuses on the general technology in high school classroom by means of topic discussion and classroom teaching through teacher's blog on the net according to the practical high school classroom and high school students'competence and personalities. The first technique involves the creation of a simulated situation of scientific research in the general technological classroom. Under teachers'instruction, students harvest scientific research method and attitude and solve various problems in learning with the textbooks and net as the main media. The second technique mainly deals with question seeking, data collection, discussion, subject choosing, research conducting, exhibition and evaluation. In the process, students'abilities of material and information acquiring, analyzing and coordination are improved which are essential in the future research.The knowledge in investigative study is of various kinds which may be deeper and higher than the requirement of the textbook and curriculum. In the study, students are revealed to a variety of learning materials and get benefit from it. Investigative research is only a means and a positive learning process which emphasizes practical usage of knowledge. The students get to know the formation of knowledge, to enjoy learning and to enhance the abilities in skills and creation through it.The research aims to develop a new pattern which is suitable to the general technological teaching in high schools.The web-based investigative study has been proved a good way in solving the problems in present teaching. As far as the subject is concerned, the main teaching problems are the lack of experimental instruments and information resources. Differences have been very apparent between the two classes by contrast experiment in one semester. Under the web-based investigative teaching, the experimental class improved in the following aspects: learning attitude and activities, abilities of problem seeking and solving, self-seeking, cooperation, creative spirit and competence in contrast with the control class. The experimental class also achieved higher grades than the control class in the final examination. The research may provide helpful theory and method for schools of different grades. The combination of net technology and investigative study has become an important element in course revolution and teaching. The teaching method has become an effective way in the combination of informational technology and investigative study.
