| The time spent in class is a major part in one's time of education. The teaching in class is the priority in the campus education; also the quality of the classes has a great impact on the quality of campus education, which can influence the national quality of education. It is a major concern for the educators for the reason that the standard of evaluating teaching provides the orientation for the teaching. The purpose of evaluating the teaching of mathematics is to boost the quality of the teaching of mathematics. There exist a lot of problems with the traditional ways of evaluating the teaching of mathematics. Therefore, establishing an evaluating standard of the teaching of mathematics with focusing more on the characteristics of mathematics is necessary.In order to establish the new evaluating standard, I first did the literature review which includes going over the related studies about this topic both at home and abroad. Based on the history of the evaluating teaching of mathematics, I did a survey on the present status which includes the critics from the present teachers who were evaluated. The problems associated with this are present in the designing of the standards, their structure and the ways of evaluating.The study of the theory-base of the evaluation follows the first part. With careful study of the Human-Centered Management Theory, Theory of Inspiring Teachers and Theory of Modern Evaluation, and with learning the experiences from the developed countries such as US and UK, the suggestions and the elements of evaluating from the education stakeholders on the evaluating the teaching of mathematics were given using the method of interviewing and discussing. These certain groups include the secondary math teachers, supervisors and the researchers at university. Under certain principles the plan of evaluating the teaching of mathematics was established. The protocol used in the evaluating process is composed of four first-class scales which include the objectives, the organization of the teaching, the implementation and the effectiveness. There are 17 second-class scales.The emphasizing of the development of students, focusing more on the difference among the students and stressing the features of teaching of mathematics are the characteristics of this standard of evaluating teaching of mathematics. Also this standard can be used by the evaluators and self-evaluation.The issue of the evaluating teaching of mathematics is related to other topics in the area of education. In order to make a more successful standard of evaluating, one needs to persist and put the theory into practice. I hope the result of this research helps for others. |
