On one hand, as a method of social work, the group work is of great importance. One the other hand, as part of social work education, the group work curriculum needs pay more attention to the practice teaching, which depends on the nature of the group work. However, there're generally some problems in the current practice teaching of our college group work curriculum. By analyzing the positive significations and constructive instructions from the 4R theory by William E.Doll, this article aims at how to widen educator's visual field further, above all, how to improve the current group work practice teaching profoundly through adopting the 4R theory by Doll.The text is constituted of three parts so as to demonstrate the issue. Describing the characters of the group work curriculum, part one pictures the actuality and deficiencies of college group work practice teaching in China, from the following four factors: the teaching goal, the teaching content, the teaching implementation and the teaching situation. Part two fully potentates the 4R theory, the richness, the recursion, the relation and the rigor, by William E.Doll,which bases the constructive postmodernism and links the educative thoughts by Dewey ,Piaget.J and Jerome S. Bruner. As a kind of postmodernism curriculum perspective, the 4R theory by William E.Doll, with critical, opening, uncertain ideal, not only has evoked worldwide repercussions, but also provided us a certainly new visual angle to develop group curriculum in China. At the last Part,The author puts forward the meanings and the necessity of adopting the 4R theory in the group work practice teaching. We can derive some inspirations from the 4R theory so as to figure out the problems and reform the reality of the group work practice teaching.In a word, being a kind of postmodernism curriculum perspective,the 4R theory provides us a particular and original visual angle which we can learn and profit from to develop the current group work practice teaching. At the same time, the particular situation of China should be still taken into account when we adopt the 4R theory in the group work practice teaching in our country so that we can develop and progress group work practice teaching down-to-earth.
