Since the 1980s, a lot of migrants influxed into W city. The proportion of floating population has been increased fast. The proportion of female floating labor has also been grown fast, which became the main characteristics of outsiders in W city. The article focuses on female floating labors. The article's perspective is gender. The analysis of article is based mainly on the method of qualitative research and uses Gelan Nuoweite's "weak embeddedness" theory. The article tries to analyze adaptation to urban life of female floating labors from threeaspects:economic, social and cultural. The article begins with the questions, such as "Why so many differencesbetween males and females in adaptation to urban life? Why females would more like stay at city? Are female easier to adapt to urban life? But why more and moe females return home?". The conclusion is migration is a gender process. It is not only desided by the social role on family production and reproduction betweenmales and females in the area of floating out, but also desided by the breaking upof the labor market in the area of floating in. Meanwhile, migration is also influenced by gender structure in the area of floating in.It is found that the female floating labors adapt to the urban society but they are structurally disadvantaged and marginalized as a result of the system of social gender,as well as the poor wage background and the household registration system of China.
