| Recently, more and more Mongols leave the prairies where they lived by generations, choosing to immigrate to urban and to find a new foothold. Compared to other floating people, Mongolian floating people is likely to encounter more difficulties in the migrating. How do they live in urban? What's their living condition like? Do they have any change in the process and how does it happen? Questions above aroused my concern, so this study concentrated on the problem of adaptability in the process that Mongolian floating people migrate to the urban.Though field research, the paper give a detailed description to the adaptability of Mongolian floating people. The study chose SaiHan district of Hohhot as survey sites, and chose the Mongolian immigrants here as interviewee.Using unparticipatory observation and deep interview methods, the study tries to describe the adaptation to urban life of Mongolian floating people and explore the influencing factors. In detail, the article analyzes the Mongolian floating people's adaptation to urban life from three aspects:economically, socially and psychologically. Firstly, on economy aspect, though the description on the factors below:job, income and consume, living mode, the study found the adaptation to the urban of Mongolian immigrants is still on low level. Most of them only live a basic survival life, still at the edge of the city. The influencing factors are systems, policies, individual factor and ethnos. Secondly, the adaptation on social aspect, the author described four aspects such as the change of language and dressing, leisure time arrangement, interpersonal and opinion on marriage. The study discovered that the Mongolian immigrants can adapt well on language, dressing and marriage opinion, but there are many blocks in their adaption on leisure time arrangement and interpersonal. The influencing factors are both system and low economic adaptability, but the impact of national characteristics plays a more important role.Thirdly, the adaptation on psychology, the article described the sense of belonging and national characteristics, and found that although Mongol migrants have intention to stay in the city, they don't have sense of belonging to the city. It is because they are full of sense of deprivation by the system barriers which caused by long-term urban-rural dualistic, and it is also because the national sentiments. At last, through a classical case, the study found that even Mongolian migrants success in economically, they still have difficulties in socially and psychologically.Though the description above and the analyze on classical case, the author summarizes the characteristics of the Mongol migrants:on economic aspect, the social aspect and the psychology aspect, they are in low level of the adaptability to the urban;it should not be ignored that the group is divided into different classes;age is more significant to their adaptability to the urban. Finally, the author analyzed the importance of the Mongolian National characteristics. |
