Studying abroad is a cultural dissemination and communication between the nations sending students abroad and the nations accepting them, which is essentially resulted from the social and cultural differences between nations. To admit the cultural diversity and bidirectional or even multi-directional communication is the basis and starting point of study abroad. However, when the two nations or two peoples are not at the level, studying abroad is one of the important accesses to advanced education. Therefore, in modern and cotemporary times, Chinese students studying politics, economics, military, culture, education, sciences and so on in ex-Soviet Union became the pioneers and backbone of promoting social changes and made great contributions in development and rejuvenation of China.This thesis focuses on studying abroad in ex-Soviet Union, reviews the two climaxes of going to study abroad in ex-Soviet Union in Chinese history of education: one is in period of New-democratic revolution and the other the early years after the establishment of People's Republic of China. By reviewing the two climaxes, the author analyzes its effect on China.and its important role in the progression of Chinese revolution and constrction . In the two periods, in addition to the spiritual legacy, studying in ex-Soviet Union in the periods forged a great number of top-level personnel in Chinese revolution and construction, including a lot of political leaders as well as masters in fields of science, technology, and education. Therefore, the thesis analyzes the history of Chinese studying in ex-Soviet Union and its effect on China and reviews the experience, aiming at providing some reference to the development of Chinese society and study abroad.The thesis consists of four parts:The first part is introduction. The thesis mainly introduces the significance, background and methodology of the study, conceptions as well as the innovation and weak points in the thesis.The second part elaborates the historical process of studying abroad in ex-Soviet Union, which includes two historical stages. The first stage referred to New-democratic revolution era, including 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. The author analyzes the historical background, the study and life of Chinese students in ex-Soviet Union and the achievements. The second stage is period of socialist construction, in which the historical background, selection of students, the scale of sending students to soviet Union, the study and administration of students as well as the achievements are discussed. The third part mainly discusses the influence of sending students to ex-Soviet Union on Chinese revolution and constrction. In the era of New-democratic revolution, the influence of studying abroad mainly falls into the following four aspects: fostering a lot of politicians, strategists and constructors; spreading Marxism and Leninism and the experience of Soviet revolution and construction; accelerating the New-democratic revolution to some extent; having some negative effect on Chinese revolution. While in the period of Chinese socialist construction, study abroad in Soviet Union helped cultivate a great number of specialists, pushed forward the establishment and development of Chinese higher education and sped up the pace of Chinese socialist construction.The fourth part is the conclusion. By analyzing the historical process of study in Soviet Union and its effect, the author drew some experience, lessons and enlightenments. The useful experiences include being well prepared before going abroad, having studied and spread Marxism and encouraged the patriotism. Giving impetus to the reform and development of Chinese higher education. The lesions are having not enough variety in majors, and the lack of perfect administration The enlightenments include having a definite purpose when studying abroad and choosing the destination rationally. The government should establish a complete policy about study abroad, perfect administration of student, improve the legal standard in study abroad policies, maintain the rights and interests of overseas students and reinforce the patriotic education and humanistic care of students. When sending students abroad, the government should consider both the practical domestic demand and the educational level of the recipient nation.
