Narrative of the games is the characteristic attracting the players, as well as an important part of the games. A good story can be very inviting to the students and promote learning effectively with regard to the educational network games. At present, however, lots of problems are existing in the integration of instructional content and stories, thus cannot satisfy teenagers' needs for the educational games. How to design an instructional game with a good story is a challenge to all the scholars devoted to this field. And the design of the background, the plots and the integration of the instructional content with the storyline is the most difficult part. Based on the previous analysis, this thesis mainly discusses on how to integrate the instructional content into the games' story, seeking to work out a strategy that can be embedded in the content when designing the story, thereby providing theoretical and practical guidance to researchers in the enterprise and schools that develop the educational network games.All in all, there are seven parts in this thesis.Part one, the introduction. In this part, the problem is introduced from four aspects, and the present situation of the study on the design of the net games' plots is briefly stated.Part two, a summary of the instructional network games, including the relevant concepts and theoretical foundations.Part three, an elaboration of the problems that exist in the integration of the instructional content and the story.Part four, through an investigation of the network games' story, the affection level for the story and the factors that attract the players, the thesis analyses the cause of the players' attitude, then concludes what attract the players.Part five, the thesis suggests a strategy integrating the instructional content and the games' story on the basis of the prior analysis and the advantages of designing the story.Part six, the application of the integration of instructional content and the games' story. In the thesis, the writer designed a case with the strategies mentioned before.Part seven, the conclusion. The writer makes a brief summary of the study, and also gives a suggestion of how to conduct a follow-up study.The thesis mainly discusses the design the instructional network games' story. Through the study of how to integrate the instructional content with the games' story, the writer gives some suggestions of how to design a good story to make students enjoy the instructional network games. Before the discussion, the priority is to identify the type of the game. Seeing that this study is on the design of the games' story, and the story is especially important to the role-play, the type of the game is defined as a role-play game.
