Zibo City Junior High School Physical Education And Health Curriculum Standards And The Status Quo And Countermeasures

Since the execution of《Full-time Compulsory Schooling Senior High Physical Education(Grade 1~6) Physical Education and Health (Grade 7~12) Curriculum Standard (Experimental Draft)》in September, 2001, a large number of the Primary and Secondary school PE teachers have devoted to its reform experiment with enthusiasm. School authorities and Primary and Secondary school PE teachers study carefully relevant contents of the《Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standard》, and carry out the new Curriculum Standard in the course of practice. This article takes the junior high schools from 5 districts and 3 counties in Zibo city as investigation subjects. Based on the methods of consulting documents, questionnaire, interviewing and mathematical statistics, a survey has been conducted to 90 teachers and 800 students from 16 schools, of which the main investigation contents include the following situations of PE teachers'cognition on carrying out the Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standard, schools'execution of Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standard, students'participation of"The Sunny Sports Movement", schools'execution of《The healthy standard of Nation's student Physical Endowment》as well as the students'joining school and social sports organizations or clubs. Through the survey and analysis on Zibo city junior high schools'Physical Education and Health Curriculum execution, the conclusion has been drawn as follows:(1)Basically, Zibo junior high schools can arrange PE and health education according to the national curriculum standard and requirement.The uncertainty of PE and health curriculum teaching contents as well as its assessment standards is the important factor affecting PE and health curriculum teaching quality and its execution effect.(2)The building of School PE laws and regualtions and school PE content system lags far behind; The Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standard, the healthy standard of Nation's student Physical Endowment,"the Sunny Sports Movement"and Secondary School Entrance Exam of PE are not strongly complimentary to each other in the field of contents and aims,which is the factor of policy system affacting the execution of Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standard.(3)Both the insufficient number of school PE teachers and unreasonalbe arrangement of PE teachers'workload cause PE teachers overworked and occupational fatigue. What's more, due to a lack of further training, PE teachers have a slow update in sports theory and knowledge, thus affacting the smooth execution of the school PE teaching reform.(4)Zibo's Secondary School Entrance Exam of PE effectively improves the students'endowment. But The school PE assessment mode mainly on the basis of sports achievements denies the born differences of individual's physical conditions, and ignores the student's personality and interests, which causes more attention to the qualification of test items but neglect of learning and understanding the PE basic skills; and emphasis on building the students'physique by utilization of exercise time and intensity but neglect of development of the students'subjective initiative and lifelong exercising ability.(5)Zibo's junior high schools are lacking in sprots training equipment and fields, which is one of the main reasons that affact the Physical Education and Health Curriculum teaching, the execution of"the Sunny Sports Movement"and the school PE teaching quality.Countermeasure:(1) Further improve the《Physical Education and Health Curriculum Standard》and set up the database of executing Zibo Physical Education and Health Curriculum.(2) Improve school PE laws and regulations as well as strengthen the systematic building of school PE contents.(3) Further strengthen the construction of the team of school PE teachers. Give more PE teaching posts and increase the number of PE teachers, and enhance PE teachers'in-service advanced training. Make clear PE teachers'workload standard.(4) Further reform and improve the regulations of Zibo Secondary School Entrance Exam of PE.(5)Strive for the local government to pour more money into purchase of sprots training equipment and fields. Complete school sports training equipment and fields. And schools should arrange PE lessons and after school sports activities scientifically and reasonably.
