In its 30-year development history of Express industry, the mode of operation and their service model has changed significantly, the current major express delivery companies mainly in accordance with hub and spoke arrangement to express its logistics network, courier service time requirements under the premise of the entire Express Logistics network operations presented a very high demand. Courier express sorting as an important link in the logistics network, the difference between the merits of its configuration and operational level will affect the cost of sorting, operational efficiency and service quality, thereby affecting their market competitiveness and sustainable development. For various reasons, China’s express delivery sorting process is not very high level of automation, manual sorting is still the main way, but the prevalence of various waste and inefficiency. In accordance with the requirements of modern logistics management, in-depth analysis of the courier business problems in manual sorting process, with systematic thinking and mathematical methods to solve the sort of targeted programs, it has become an effective means to solve the problem of sorting the courier. Based on the classic optimization algorithm using Matlab programming and Flexsim simulation, optimization through twice optimization to help companies find efficiency ways to improve delivery of express mail sorting ideas and programs.This paper in-depth study of courier companies sorting process firstly, and analyzes the main problems which exist. Specifically, the present paper is to study Small Courier, and the Small Courier manual sorting express optimization studies. Because of the large number of flows and site constraints, manual sorting is generally divided into small shipment early points and segments in two steps, first determine the number of time-sorting basket and flows directly determines the allocation of each segment when sorting basket team staffing and workload number, this study based on the early minutes of the above, it is beginning of sub-sorting box flow allocation study and then coming to the breakdown of the number of sorting personnel arrangements to achieve a reduction of the total breakdown of staff the number of each team and balance workloads purposes.Specifically, this paper based on a real case of express delivery companies, using the sorting based on the classic neighborhood search optimization algorithm by Matlab programming, solving selected five groups express optimum configuration points early, then using the five group optimum sorting program to build Flexsim simulation model and running these models, then analysis the five groups of optimization simulation results, the conclusion that the merits of the difference comparison among programs to achieve the best of the best, to get the final optimization –the box flow distribution of first sorting and distribution sorting subdivision staffing numbers of the second sorting. This optimization method can be applied to the instructive theory and practice, and the simulation and optimization of sorting can be used to other courier or logistics company that’s also has reference value.
