The Effect Of Work Stress On The Performance Of Construction Project - The Adjustment Effect Of Project Manager 's Emotional Intelligence

As one of the pillar industry of the national economy,the construction usually adopt the organizational structure of project management.As the core of the project,project managers shoulder the project to be completed on time and with quality assurance.At the same time,projecr managers were under work stress from all sides.Studies have demonstrated that too much work stress will make the individual unhealthy and reduce the work efficiency,as well as bring large economic losses.This paper based on previous study on the relationship between work stress and performance in general enterprises,research on the relationship between project manager,s work stress and the performance of construction project under the background of construction industry; and taking the emotional intelligence as adjustment variable,to analysis both relations influence under the emotional influence.Firstly,this thesis puts forward hypothesis and constructed conceptual model on the basis of literature review,as well as identify the measurement of three variables above.Secondly,a total of 300 project managers from Chinese construction enterprises were asked to complete the questionnaires through e-mail and on-site.The final samples were consisted of 175 respondents.Thirdly,it analysis these data by using SPSS21.0,including descriptive statistics analysis,reliability and validity analysis.Finally the hypotheses were tested by using multivariate regression analysis and SEM.The conclusions of this paper can be indicated as follows:(1)work stress has obvious negative effect on project performance;(2)emotional intelligence is a moderator between work stress and project performance.According to the conclusion,construction enterprises should pay more attention to project manager,s emotional intelligence,like holding some certain courses about how to enhance project manager,s emotional intelligence.By using emotional intelligence,they can deal with work stress from all sides and so reduce work stress negative effect on project performance.
