Provincial City Tourism Competitiveness Study

In the 21st century, with the rise of Global Economic Integration and Knowledge Economy, the intercity competition becomes more vigorous. The study which connects with urban management and city competition ability have attracted extensive concerns in academic circles, also there are many scholars studying the function mechanism and management mode of the tour cities from the angles of economics, management and sociology etc. But the research about city tour competition ability is on the primary phase, related research result less.Referenced abundance literature and datum from both domestic and foreign, using the theories and methods of tourism, economics, science of cities and sustainable development, and this paper carried through the study on cities tour competition ability. This article defines the basic concepts of city tour and city tour competition ability, and deeply discusses the infection factors, system structure, evolvement process and motive functional mechanism, composing a suit of index system for appraising tour competition ability. Making use of the main composition analysis method, the paper evaluated 11 sample cities in Shanxi province and gave the promoting countermeasures for each city.The full text is divided into totally 7 parts. The first part: the background and meaning of the theme. The second part is about the research progress of the competition ability both in domestic and international city tour competition. According to the time sequence and investigation subjects, the paper summarizes the domestic and international researching status about the city tour competition ability. The third part is about the basic concepts and academic foundations of the essay, defines the city tour and the idea of city tour competition ability, and summarizes the correlation theories about city tour competition ability. The fourth part analyzes the affection factors of city tour resources, economic terms,science technique etc. Based on the conclusion and classification foundation of infection factors, the "city tour competition ability system construction" model is established. Referenced Poter's "diamond" model, the paper constructs the city tour competition ability model, probing into the evolution process and motive mechanism. In the fifth part, the evaluation rules, guiding ideas and contents of city tour competition ability system are discussed, and then the evaluation index system is constructed. In the sixth part, based on analyzing the status of Shanxi tour development, the paper contrasts and evaluates 11 sample cities, and put forward the promoting countermeasures to cities tour competition abilities of Shanxi province. The seventh part is the conclusion, generalizing main investigative results, innovation points, deficiencies and the problems which need further researching.
