As a special commodity, housing is equipped with the value of both investment and consumption. However, the academic research pays most attention to the former, while neglect the latter. Even in the field of Consumption Economics, which focuses on the research of consumption, restricted its studies on housing consumption to qualitative analysis, thus lacks pertinence. As a matter of fact, due to its unique features of housing consumption, it has become an urgent issue to start the quantitative analysis with the help of the popular computation model. Therefore, this papers carries an expert quantitative analysis of the Chinese city and town residents' consumption on housing from the following three perspectives: first, presupposition of which consuming function theory can better imitate the behavior model of the housing consumption gross;second, what is the proportion of housing consumption and resident's total expanse? What is its consuming trending modulus, income and price flexibility? And can these indexes be expressed quantificationally by the advanced computational model;third, there are differences in the trend of housing consumption among difference years and districts, which are all potential influences on the housing consumption. Can these factors be well represented in the model as well?Guided by the above thought, the author firstly read the classics of consumption economics. After a concrete research of the current popular computation models and their theoretical applicability for Chinese city & town dwellers' housing consumptions, the author also figured out the research method and the frame of the article, on the basis of the established international research results. Secondly, the article collected the data of city & town residents' housing consumption of the past decade, especially those of the 11 typical cities (Shanghai, Hangzhou, Ningbo, Jiaxing, Shaoxing, Nanjing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Shantou, Beijing, Tianjing) in the three Chinese economical zones in the recent 5 years, to research and judge the appropriate function assumption for the housing consumption behavior model through regression analysis;thirdly, with the help of ELES model, the numerical values such as the income and price flexibility of housing consumption, which are hard to figured out in the general computation models, are at last calculated, and thus give out some relevant suggestions to the question of government control. Lastly, the Panel Data model helps to distinguish quantitatively the potential factors of both district and time effects, and to offer the practical evidence as well. The innovative points of this article are represented in the following two sides: one is to figure out quantitatively the economical indexes such as the income & price flexibility, and time & district effects of housing consumption of some typical cities in the 3 Chinese economical zones;the other is to apply successfully the ELES and Panel Data models to the quantitative research of the housing consumption behaviors, which compensate the computational lack of the traditional statistic methods.Due to the limitations of research experience, personal ability, time and resources, there are inevitably some deficiencies. For example, the selection of samples, the collection of data, and deeper elaboration of the quantitative conclusion are in need of further development.
