With the progress of human society and development of commodity economy, the booming of convention and exhibition industry have become one of the important criterion for a nation or region's economic prosperity and social progress. Since 21 century, China have entered the era of holding various kinds of meetings and exhibitions actively and competitively. And this trend also make the domestic tourism researchers begin to research and consider the convention and exhibition industry and its influences to tourism industry.Firstly, this paper discusses the basic concepts of convention and exhibition industry and urban tourism, and analyzes their innerrelationship. Then this essay studies the various positive influences of convention and exhibition industry to urban tourism, and put forward the relationship model, supporting elements and concrete measures for their mutual-action development. Finally, by the case study of West Lake expo, this paper achieves the combination of theory and practice. The paper is composed of 6 chapters as follows:Chapter One: Mainly introduces the research background, research content, research methods and research framework of this paper. Chapter Two: By the domestic and international contrasting, the paper introduces the development situation and research progress of urban tourism and convention and exhibition industry respectively.Chapter Three: Mainly analyzes the correlation of convention and exhibition and tourism, and emphasizes on relativity analysis of convention and exhibition industry and urban tourism from two angles of area space and developing mechanism.Chapter Four: Studies the influence of convention and exhibition industry on urban tourism, generalizing these influence into 6 aspects, and put forward the relationship model, supporting elements and concrete measures for their mutual-action development.Chapter Five: taking Hangzhou as case study, analyzes the developing condition of Hangzhou's urban tourism and convention and exhibition industry in recent years, and systematically studies the influence of West Lake expo on Hangzhou urban tourism.Chapter Six: Summarizes the view and conclusion of the paper, and makes the prospect of the future study.
